Kids University
B-PHOT, Brussels Photonics is a part of the Kids University organised by VUB's science communication department.
In the spring VUB launches its kids university with a special kick-off event. Pupils from the third grade of primary education in Brussels will be introduced to our university and spend the day as a "real" student on the campus in Etterbeek. The day will be packed with workshops, where researchers will adapt their expertise to a young audience.
The children's university will continue in autumn, and classes can register for separate workshops at their school or at the university.
With this initiative, we want to make higher education more accessible by bringing children into contact with science and research early on in their educational career. VUB's Kids University reaches children in a fun, accessible way with the message that studying is for everyone, regardless of social, economic or cultural background. VUB also also wants to take initiative out into classrooms, to reach as many children as possible from as many neighbourhoods in Brussels as possible. Because a little knowledge goes a long way.
